SATURDAY 12th August 2017 – Ian Reid

Bar Music Live

Ian Reid is a singer-songwriter living in his hometown of Rockwood, Ontario.  He has a passion for a good story and the poignancy of everyday life in small communities.  He weaves these little moments into melodies and chords.  His music has been described as “Neil Young crossed with the playfulness of Jonathan Richman.”

Ian has a uniquely engaging and entertaining stage presence and an ability to  connect with his audiences.  He loves to augment his voice, guitar, and ukulele with quirky anecdotes from home and abroad.

Since returning from years of overseas teaching in 2008, Ian has played over 900 shows, earning much respect from his musical peers and fans alike.  He has won songwriting awards in South Korea and Ontario and his music can be heard on various radio stations including the CBC.

Ian will have released four albums in the last four years; his newest recording will debut in Spring of 2017, followed by a cross-Canadian tour.

“folk music’s charmingly talented boy next door” –  Hillside Festival Announcer, Jen Rafter

Cape Breton based singer songwriter has had some positive responses through the industry that include showcases for ECMAs and Music NS in previous years. In 2008 he recorded his debut CD titled “Gary the Bus Driver” which is available on iTunes. His CD helped him open some doors through the Maritimes, branching out into surrounding provinces for some short tours. News was getting out about this guitar player with radio interviews and podcasts, helping to spread the news.

In 2016, after a brief hiatus Jon picked up his guitar again for the first time in years, and started writing, he found a new voice. A musical explosion bursting at the seams, he found he has something to say again. Experiencing life, love and loss. Asking questions, growing, maturing as an artist, songwriter and player. He started recording a new record, with our first taste of the new material posted one thing is for certain. This musical journey that we share together, is not over.
